Vegetative form. Leaf blades flat, linear, (2-)4-6(-8) mm wide; abaxially scabrous.
Hermaphrodite (`perfect') spikelets. Hermaphrodite spikelets 4.5-7.5 mm long. Lemma awned. Lemma veins glabrous or scabrous, with the hairs only at the vein base (i.e. below the apex). Median awn 6-10 mm long, dorsal, arising from the mid-point of the lemma, geniculate.
