Vegetative form. Mid-culm internodes usually scabrous. Leaf blades setaceous or filiform, 1 mm wide.

Hermaphrodite (`perfect') spikelets. Hermaphrodite spikelets 5-7 mm long. Lower glume long acuminate (or subulate ??). Upper glume long acuminate (or subulate ??). Lemma to 4.5 mm long. Lemma intercostal regions sparsely to densely villous. Median awn to 10 mm long, arising from the lower half of the lemma (near the base). Palea fully developed (?), deeply bifid (the teeth long-acuminate). Anthers 1-1.2 mm long.

Distribution. Tasmania and Victoria.

Ecology. Dry situations and under light woodland.
