Vegetative form. Mid-culm internodes usually glabrous. Leaf blades flat, linear, 2-5(-7) mm wide.
Hermaphrodite (`perfect') spikelets. Hermaphrodite spikelets (3.5-)4-5(-6.5) mm long. Upper glume acuminate (?). Lemma 1.8-3 mm long. Median awn (5-)6.5-8.5 mm long, arising from the mid-point of the lemma.
