British Insects: the Genera of Ephemeroptera
This data set is generated from a DELTA database (Dallwitz 1980; Dallwitz, Paine, and Zurcher 1993). At its present stage of development, it represents a first draft attempt at an automated, interactive account of the order as represented in Britain. As yet, the generic descriptions are very incomplete, being restricted to information obtained from textbooks and the Kimmins (1954) and Harker (1989) keys, and it incorporates few illustrations. The interactive key should afford reasonable prospects of identifying adult Mayflies and sub-imagines to family level, but in its present state is unlikely to be satisfactory at generic level even for imagines.
The nomenclature conforms to W.O. Steel’s in the second edition of the Kloet and Hincks Check List (1964), updated with reference to Harker’s account.
